The highly anticipated exercise, which featured five formidable aspirants vying for the party’s ticket, drew widespread attention across Somolu II political circles. Following the conclusion of voting and collation of results, Hon. Mayowa Adeoye secured the highest number of votes totalling 13,782, earning him an emphatic victory and reaffirming his strong grassroots appeal within the constituency.

Party faithful, supporters, and residents erupted in celebration shortly after the official declaration, describing the outcome as a victory for dedication, consistency, and years of loyal service to the progressive movement in Lagos State.

Speaking after the announcement, one of the members present at the primary election, Mr Audu Oseni, commended the emergence of Hon. Adeoye, describing him as a longstanding and committed member of the APC family whose contributions to the party date back several decades.

According to Mr Oseni:

“Hon. Mayowa Adeoye has remained one of the most dedicated and loyal progressive members within Somolu and Bariga. His political journey dates back to the Hope ’93 struggle when, despite being a minor at the time, he actively participated in campaign activities and distributed party flyers across Bariga LCDA.”

He further stated that Mayowa Adeoye had consistently supported the party over the years through mobilisation, organisational responsibilities, and leadership engagements, including his service as a Train-the-Trainers Officer representing Somolu and Bariga at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, during political capacity-building programmes held in 2019 and 2023.

Mr Oseni also highlighted Adeoye’s contributions in his immediate past role as Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) to the Federal Constituency, noting that his dedication and legislative support have significantly impacted community growth and constituency development.

“Since assuming office as Senior Legislative Aide, Hon. Mayowa has contributed immensely to the development of the constituency. Today marks the fulfilment of a long-standing ambition to serve his people directly as a lawmaker. This victory is well deserved, and we thank Almighty God for making it possible,” he added.

Political observers noted that Hon. Adeoye’s emergence did not come as a surprise, given his sustained involvement in community leadership and political participation spanning over a decade. Reports from various voting centres across Somolu II indicated a peaceful exercise characterised by enthusiasm, unity, and overwhelming support for the eventual winner.

From the atmosphere witnessed across the constituency, party members and residents expressed optimism and confidence in Adeoye’s leadership capacity, describing him as a grassroots politician with a deep understanding of the people’s needs and aspirations.

With his emergence as the APC flagbearer, expectations are already high among constituents who believe his experience, loyalty, and longstanding service record position him as a credible voice for effective representation at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
